Over the last month we have been preparing one of our paddocks for a new Lucerne crop.
The trial plot we established two years ago has proved to be a savior this year during the summer months. With the fabulous summer rains we have had, the trial Lucerne has provided much needed supplementary feeding for the cattle.
Another small crop was planted in December (normally a silly time to plant Lucerne) following 130mm of rain and that has established beautifully.
With such success, we have allocated one of our best paddocks to establish a seriousLucernecrop so all the work is going into getting it ready. Over the last few weeks we have applied significant amounts of lime to condition the soil.
